We at Origiin IP Academy are happy to announce a webinar on the topic “Open Source Licensing and Copyright Issues”
About the webinar
In proprietary or a closed source software development, the ownership in copyright is usually straight forward because the owner is usually a person or a company which owns the copyright in the developed software. Copyright issues arise on the other hand, when open source model is adopted for developing the software and it is not always easily well understood by the software developers or a little attention is paid to the license terms. As a result, numerous copyright related problems arise at a later point of time if the developer has not adhered to the license terms or has not understood the open source licensing model. One of the major problem associated with the open source software development model is the determination of ownership for the copyright, since there are numerous individuals associated with the software development process. Apart from this, the software developed will have both copyrightable and non-copyrightable parts. Hence, it becomes important to understand various Open Source Licensing models and Copyright issues associated with the same.
